Devils Tower

Crazy Horse

We didn't get there in time to take the bus all the way up this work-in-progress, and it's hard to get a feel for how immense this is from the Visitor's Center. To put it in perspective though ... Crazy Horse's head is already bigger than Mount Rushmore, and it's only a fraction of what is planned. When this is finished it will be absolutely enormous!

Mount Rushmore

This was pretty impressive. It was raining which kind of messed up my pictures, but the pictures don't really do it justice anyway! When I saw the Lotus in the parking lot, I couldn't resist taking pictures of that though ... and then I realized that Marissa was actually taller than the car was!

Sylvan Lake Resort

This is where we stayed when we were at Custer State Park. Some really cool rock formations here, very representative of those found in the northen part of the park.

Wind Cave National Park

Wind Cave is known for it's "Box-Work" and "Popcorn" formations, which I did get a few decent shots of. The Box-Work (in the picture below) is really bizarre looking, and was all over the parts of the cave we went through.

Mammoth Site

Mammoth Site is a live archaeological dig in South Dakota that has a museum built around it. They have uncovered 35 different mammoths so far - all Male!

Custer State Park Buffalo

More Badlands

This place was unbelievable! I took hundreds of pictures, I was so amazed! Here are a few of the better ones. The prairie dogs crack me up, they are always running around like crazy, barking, standing up and clapping their hands; they were only outside the park though. Inside the park there is very little wildlife.

Sunrise at The Badlands

Sunrise at Badlands National Park

This was definitely worth waking up early for!
